Friends of Big Pocono

Volunteer

Have you got some time to volunteer???

Friends of BP are always looking for volunteers to help out at the Park, group events, and special projects.  If you have a talent you'd like to share, please contact us.

Cattell Cabin Crew

The 10's version of the CCC!  Volunteers are needed to continue the clean-up and restoration of the historic Cattell Cabin at the heart of Big Pocono State Park.

This early 1900's shelter from the elements is being restored to some of its natural beauty and renovated in preparation for opening to the public once again.  Formerly the Park Office, Cattell has been adopted by the Friends group as a major project.

If you'd like to help, contact Betty Kruk, the Cattell Committeee Chair at sharbaubetty at yahoo or 570-350-9487.

Park Advocates Wanted!

FOBPSP seeks volunteer park advocate(s) with good communication skills to promote park needs and benefits to local and state leaders, agency staff and the general public.  If you can sell a car to a car salesman, we have some work for you.  Contact FOBP at friendsofbigpocono at yahoo. com for more information.

Trail Maintainers/Monitors

Volunteers are needed to monitor Park Trails and report maintenance/management issues to the appropriate parties.  Responsibilities include regular visits to assigned trail sections, clearing of  tree debris, documenting trail/corridor conditions, reporting incursions and trail conditions.  Multiple trail sections are available for adoption. Contact Pocono Outdoor Club Trailcare Chairman John Motz for info/to sign up 570-236-1462/trailbldr at hotmail.

Sign Painters/Maintainers/Installers

The Friends group is undertaking a signage improvement program at the park.  From trail signs to informational signs, there is a lot of signage in the Park and it all needs maintenance.  Some signs need replacing, others painting or straightening, some are missing.  Contact the Friends Group at friendsofbigpocono at yahoo for more info.

Show your support for the park in any way that you can: by becoming a FOBP member, by making a donation, by volunteering, or simply by passing on the word about this great place.

See you at Big Pocono!
